I Got It From My Momma!

I got quite a lot of it from my dad too, to be honest - hands, cheeks, entire personality, but most of it came from my mum.

People often ask me how I got into fashion and I always reply with 'I've just always loved playing with clothes', but more recently I have come to realise that I was massively influenced by my mum.

My mum is a beautiful human being, both inside and out. She is strong, selfless and massively considerate, she has the biggest heart and will always inconvenience herself before anybody else. To add to this, she is gorgeous and super stylish! I aspire to be like her (which is lucky because as I get older, I see and hear a lot of her in everything I say and do!). Her style, love for clothes and general 'coolness', is what I am sure influenced my love for fashion.

To pay homage to this wonderful woman, on today her birthday and for tomorrow, Mothering Sunday, I thought it would be a hilarious idea to dig out some old photos and recreate some of her looks from her youth. They do say, imitation is the highest form of flattery!

Creating these photos was THE most fun! Going through old photos is always entertaining as it gives a wonderful sense of nostalgia, but trying to mimic poses and hair dos is simply hilarious! What I also enjoyed and found fascinating was how fashion comes back around. My mum's photos were taken between 20-30 years ago and I have a very similar wardrobe now to what she wore back then. I even wear things in a similar way! So if any style lessons are learnt here, hold onto your key pieces, you or your kids might need them in 2040/2050!
